Student Services

The Student Services Department at Plaza Middle School utilizes a collaborative approach to provide services and support to students, while empowering their families for the greatest level of student academic, social and emotional success.

Plaza Middle School has two full-time School Counselors and one full-time Social Worker.  The three of us work as a team to serve all students at Plaza!  

Matt Calvin

Matt came to the Park Hill School District in 2007 after teaching and counseling for 8 years in Chicago. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Concordia University and a Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Northern Illinois University.  Matt spent his first three years as a school counselor at Park Hill High School and moved to his current counseling position at Plaza Middle School in 2010.

Ashley ShroyerAshley Shroyer, 816-359-5880
Social Worker

Ashley came to the Park Hill School District in 2018 after 9 years working for non-profit organizations within the Kansas City Metro area. She has experience working in the foster care system, residential facilities, and community mental health. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology/Anthropology from Truman State University, and a Masters in Social Work from The University of Missouri-Kansas City. Ashley has been a Licensed Master Social Worker since 2009, and recently obtained her Clinical Social Work License in 2017. Ashley is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in both Kansas and Missouri.
