Mission

Our mission is to develop collaborative, self-motivated, life-long learners who will become productive members of our diverse multicultural society. In a safe and supportive environment, our dedicated and knowledgeable staff will provide a relevant and rigorous curriculum that engages and challenges the abilities of each student.
 

School Hours

Plaza Middle School is open from 7:15am - 2:20pm for regular school hours Monday thru Friday. Our doors open to STUDENTS at 6:50am for early arrivals.  Dismissal typically runs until around 2:40pm.

Academic Teams: 

Plaza Middle School is comprised of six smaller academic teams.  There are 2 teams per grade.

• Sixth Grade Teams:  Heroes and Legends.  
• Seventh Grade Teams: Novas and Challengers.
• Eighth Grade Teams: Warriors and Champions.
   

Core and Encore/Exploratory Classes: 

Core classes include: Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, PE, and Life Education. The core classes are year long courses. 

All 6th grade students will take all eight exploratory classes during their school year.  Students will take two of the following exploratory courses at a time, switching to a new set of courses every 9 weeks: Art, Intro to Technology, Drama, Music, Food, Textiles, PLTW, and World Cultures. 

7th grade students will choose four encore courses for each academic year.  Full year courses count for two courses. *Courses that have an asterisk represent encores that have both a 7th and 8th grade curriculum, which students may take both years: *Art, *AVID, Beginning Band, Beginning Orchestra, *Choir, Technology Applications, *Family and Consumer Science, PLTW, Publications, Spanish, and Speech.

8th grade will have intermediate band and intermediate orchestra in addition to the previous encore class choices.
 

Schedule

Plaza has a two day rotating class schedule - Red day followed by a White day.
